We started out the day pretty early…leaving at 6:00 am for our flight out of Orlando. The “plan” is for us to fly from MCO to LAX to LIH (Kauai’s airport) from 10 am to 6 pm. Short day. Except for the time change. And the layover. And being on an airplane for 12-some hours. But. Kauai: Here, we come!!! We are chasing the sun from sunrise to sunset…hence our first song:
My dad, who is a part time FL State Fire Inspector had an inspection on the way to the airport so we stopped and had to get a picture. I hope I can get the sunset on Kauai sometime after we land.
For any wanting to follow our flights today we will be on the following:
- Delta 504 (MCO to LAX) – Departing 10:20am (EST)
- Delta 428 (LAX to MCO) – Departing 2:00pm (PST)
So here we go….lots of rushing just to sit and wait!! 😉

First flight went smoothly and both departed and arrived on time. Here are a few photos from the air between Orlando and LA.
Next flight leaves 2pm local time and will be another 6 hours. Should end with a sunset in Kauai

We landed safely and a little early a little after 5:30pm local time. It was a beautiful scene as the sun was beginning to set. After a LONG day of travel we were happy to get our rental car and drive to our first destination to crash. More on that next post.
