Ephesians 3:20-21 “Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
The plan for Monday was a lazy morning at the resort, possibly some swimming in the pool, then heading back towards the Lihue Airport for our scheduled air tour of the island in the afternoon. Along the way we figured we would stop by some beaches. Then after we would hang around Lihue for a farmer’s market and dinner.
Some of those things happened mostly according to plan, but unfortunately our big event of the day, the plane tour, was canceled due to weather (due to rain and high winds on most of the island). We were able to reschedule that to Thurs afternoon so we are hoping things clear up by then.
Despite the disappointment of that news, there was no shortage of beautiful things to see and fun adventures to enjoy in Kauai. After the planned lazy morning we skipped swimming in the light rain and left towards Lihue. We drove back to the Coconut Marketplace area to visit Lae Nani Beach and Waipouli Beach and see the Lava Lava Beach Club where we will likely eat dinner sometime later in the week.
Here are a few photos of that area:

Our next destination was Lydgate Beach Park. This is a place we are hoping to eventually go snorkeling but didn’t think we’d have time to due to the previously planned air tour. A unique feature of this beach is the swimming area has rocks around it making the water calmer than the raging ocean on the other side. It almost looks and functions like an infinity pool. Kim also had some fun drawing in sand.

After Lydgate Beach we decided to visit yet another beach called Hanama’ulu that is very close to the airport. It was lunch time so we had some PB&J and local drinks. This beach had several wind surfers. We also drove out to the nearby Ahukini pier which provided another vantage point of this beach as well as the ocean.

By this time we had learned our air tour was canceled so we had to come up with some alternate plans for the rest of the day. Kim said there was another lighthouse relatively nearby so we set out to that. After a somewhat sketchy drive on mostly dirt roads surrounding a beautiful golf course we arrived at yet another stunning location and got to enjoy views of Ninini Beach from the base of the Ninini Point Lighthouse.

Around this time we decided it might be best to start heading back to the resort to figure out dinner plans and maybe finally swim a bit in one of the pools. On the way we made a quick stop by Anini Beach to scout out another place we hope to snorkle eventually. The water was relatively calm despite being on the north shore thanks to a large reef. You could also see the Kilauea Lighthouse in the distance. Once back to the resort it was raining again so we got some tasty shrimp and BBQ pork tacos to share and called it a day.
